About two years ago, Greenpeace was looking to raise awareness and money for its campaign to save the whales. The group created a poll to name a whale that they wanted to track in the Pacific. One of the names was Mr. Splashy Pants. This created an internet phenomenon but also gave Greenpeace a great meme to place on t-shirts, bumper stickers, and so on. So where did Greenpeace turn to capitalize on the publicity? To CaféPress and their print on-demand products. They opened a store with ‘Whale Goodies’ featuring Mr. Splashy Pants. For a non-profit organization, not having to pay for inventory, they are able to save their money and use it towards their mission.
